February is a month when the promise of Spring returns. It is the month that Lunar New Year is celebrated in many countries including China and Japan. Imbolc or Brigid's Day is celebrated in Ireland and the British Isles representing, among many other things, the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox.
February is a time of abundant citrus and creamy desserts, sunlight captured in the heart of a meal through color, warmth and flavor. This month is focused also on love, whether it is the love of the self or of another. Delicious, healing, and Beauty-filled food is one of the ways we can express care for ourselves, loved ones and the places we inhabit. Food and eating is reciprocal in that we are sharing in a dance with the plant world and one another.
